A photography major, searching for inspiration and shit that makes me laugh.
- something makes you want to get up and leave your home at night. you don’t fight it. you walk downtown. thousands are huddled silently around the blood orange calder. it’s bigger than you remember. it glows. you cannot look away.
- you swear when you were a kid the statue of john ball had no statue children with him. the ones there now look familiar. your mother cries.
- the original inhabitants of the homes on heritage hill do not like the paint job you gave their home. not at all. they are angry.
- you enter the meijer on alpine. hours later when you walk through the automatic doors to leave, you are on plainfield. your car is in the parking lot. you don’t question it.
- everyone you talk to loves founders but no one you know has actually been there. “someday,” they say. they hope.
- you wake up to a large hole in your front yard. someone has stolen your silver maple for its precious roots.
- a man is crying looking out toward the grand river. you ask him why. he replies, words sputtering out between his sobs, “the bridge is so blue.”
